Born in Worcestershire (UK) England near the Malvern
Hills. Sandra has embroidered from an early age. Her
passion for color and detail, lead to an interesting research career
in the Thin Film Technology of Semi Conductor Devices. In the
80's a friend introduced Sandra to the Embroiderer's Guild in the
UK, where she was an active member.
In 1993 Sandra started
travelling to London for monthly day tuition for a City & Guilds
Diploma Course, with dreams of teaching embroidery. For 4
years she studied all types of embroidery and needlework,
traditional, contempory and historical.
Arriving here in the USA
in 1997, Sandra taught a few local 'Embroiderers Guild of America'
(EGA) groups and discovered that the 'teaching style' is very
different in the USA. Full instructions leaflets with diagrams
and color photographs were required in the USA. The 'Board &
Chalk' with a few loose pages which is typical in the UK. Sandra's
American Students offered a lot of wisdom and help in preparation of
kits and charts, the resulting products are suitable for beginners,
with enough flexability for the more experienced needlework person.
1999 - 2004 Sandra travelled
around the USA with 'CATS' The Creative Arts and Textile Show,
teaching beginner and advanced classes in Embroidery (Pulled thread,
Dorset Feather Stitches, Laidwork, Brazillian embrodiery, Finishing
ribbon scissor case and fobs with beads).
Sandra as a Needlework
enthusiast has collected a number of interesting needleworks and
books, which are used for lectures. Do ask Sandra for her current
program brochure and teaching schedule in the Tucson, Arizona
area.
Over the years Sandra has been
asked," when are you returning to England?" (After all she only came
here for a minimum of 3 to 5 years). After 10 years Sandra & Bob
have fallen in love with America. In 2005 they sold thier home in
England and planned retirement here in the USA.
Sandra relocated to SADDLEBROOKE, Tucson AZ
in May 2007. |
